The Gruesome Animated Movie Ending That Haunts Audiences

Among every adult-oriented animated films I’ve ever watched, nothing has remained with me as much as the terror-laced conclusion of the viscerally violent as well as highly provocative 2022 movie Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, this Spanish filmmaker developed a dark, somber and frequently brutal world that included some tiny , desolate glimmers of hope.

Although The Unicorn Wars seems like it originated from a drive to expand animation even more, the director explained that it was actually an effort to express a universal, multicultural theme about “the mutual source of every conflict.”

That idea is conveyed by means of a band of vividly colored bears , openly inspired by a famous line of cuddly figures.

Being raised in a society focused on warmongering as well as the military-industrial complex, a lot of these animals are consumed by exterminating unicorns, because of a sacred text that claims the bears they were once rulers of the forest, until the unicorns drove them out.

Others haven’t fully bought into the brainwashing, , prefer to sample narcotics or engage sexually in the woods.

Unlike their gentle equivalents, these colorful critters have visible sexual organs , obvious libidos.

For one notably brutal, cynical bear, the character Bluey, the battle against unicorns turns into a route to power — and especially to authority over his softer, nicer brother the bear Tubby.

Bluey behaves aggressively and an apparent psychopath , and as terror takes over his squad and kills his comrades individually, he grabs more and more power on his own behalf, in increasingly violent, destructive ways.

Simultaneously, the unicorns are experiencing their own horror, as an expanding, destructive monster in their woods.

“Initially, it feels like a humorous movie,” the filmmaker stated. “Yet it becomes a more dramatic and sorrowful film. And in the finale, it becomes a terrifying movie.”

The Unicorn Wars begins feeling a bit like one of the more playful features from an iconic animator, that uncover a mischievous joy in permitting drawn beings curse, engage in violence, or sex each other up.

Then it turns into closer to a darker film by that same artist, with increasingly explicit brutality , a palpable relation to the actual tragedy of battle.

Ultimately, it’s a complete theatrical horror bloodbath.

The horror that makes the film an ideal spooky-season watch begins well before than indicated.

Unicorn Wars is ideal for the most dedicated gorehounds, for lovers of extreme cinema who want to view a film they’ve never viewed until now, and who can handle a plot which delivers no restraint.

View it in a dimly lit space free from interruptions, and the conclusion will burrow deep within you and take up residence there.
