Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court after spring of that year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent reactions on court had prompted some to question if his ability to compete at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent saved four early-game chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
