First-choice XI

Dean Henderson Had little to do to make during the opening 45 but then forced to intervene from Arbër Hoxha’s curled attempt. His sliding intervention on Qazim Laci demonstrated sharp reading of the game. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Challenged against Albania’s primary attacker through Hoxha. Started more centrally early on but moved wider once Saka came on. 7/10

John Stones Pushed forward when in possession, a familiar role in the past. Sometimes seemed hesitant on the ball with the tactic discontinued after the break. Six

Dan Burn A nuisance on corners and free-kicks, as always, perhaps is another option to Stones in defense instead of alongside him. A careless ball in the second half almost led to a goal for the visitors. 6/10

Nico O’Reilly A further confident display from the youngster following his initial appearance against Serbia. A teammate did not capitalize on the most of a clever backheel over the Albania defence. The role is firmly his already. 7/10

The newcomer His maiden beginning in an England shirt. Slightly loose when playing out but his inswinging deliveries posed a danger. An effective game manager for the boss to utilize versus defensive opponents. Booked for a poorly timed tackle. 6

The midfielder Deliveries from corners and free kicks caused problems. Had room to roam down the left flank yet found himself offside upon receiving in front of goal. Awarded a well-earned break on the hour mark. Six

The star midfielder Played in an advanced role out wide and did plenty of defensive duties. Displayed moments of class but scuffed an attempt high. Withdrawn towards the end for a teammate, a fellow player, after being booked. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Had the team's top opening of the first half, his effort smartly stopped from the opposing goalkeeper. As Quansah hanging back, he had to provide width out wide yet his deliveries from the touchline were hit and miss. Substituted for the final quarter-hour. Six

Harry Kane The difference-maker with his 77th and 78th finishes in an England shirt. His first a typical close-range tap-in and the second an excellent headed goal having drifted away away from the opposition. Now 32, his form is unwavering and England are strong contenders in future competitions with him leading the line. 8

Eberechi Eze Had difficulty to get into the game from the left. Was presented with a good opening when set up by the midfielder yet Strakosha denied him. His replacement produced a bigger effect in his place. 5
