Pat Bamford Joins the Blades After Leading Abusive Songs About Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford is now a member of the Championship side just half a year after starting derogatory chants directed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club after departing from Leeds United, has put pen to paper on a agreement with the Championship strugglers until January. Bamford's lengthy time with Leeds concluded through agreement this past summer.

One of Bamford’s last memorable actions while at Leeds included starting insulting chants about Chris Wilder during Leeds' promotion celebrations this spring. Currently, the former England player will feature for Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to pull his beloved club away from the relegation zone.

Past History Involving Bamford and the Manager

Both men had a past before Leeds won promotion to the top flight the previous campaign and United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder described the forward as “a muppet” back when the roles were reversed in 2018-19 and the Blades won automatic promotion while Leeds United fell short in the playoffs.

Making Amends & Moving Forward

The Wilder chant went viral in April. A repentant Bamford and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder said back then: “Had a conversation with Patrick recently and I’ve no problem whatsoever with it. I'm uncertain regarding the words used from a fellow pro! However I appreciated and admired him giving me a call.

“We had 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel too and we had a longer discussion together and he is a great person, a top guy. When I was playing we would dish it out and accept it and that’s part and parcel of the game across all levels, including a Sunday morning. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Patrick.”

Recent Playing Challenges

The forward made 18 appearances for Leeds last season however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC and Middlesbrough striker has struggled with injury over the past few seasons.
