Paceman Gus Atkinson Compounds the English team's Injury Concerns.
'Significant concern' for the touring side as Atkinson is forced off suffering a hamstring problem.
Gus Atkinson increased England's injury problems when he left the ground early on day two of the Boxing Day Test against Australia.
The pace bowler felt a problem in his left hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell on Saturday.
The England team indicated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and would spend time off the field to undergo evaluation "over the next few hours".
The final Test of the series beginning on 4 January begins at the end of the week.
England have been without fast bowlers Mark Wood due to knee trouble and Jofra Archer because of a side injury during this series.
Matthew Fisher was called up as cover for Wood.
His form was underwhelming during the first two matches, managing only a handful of scalps.
He was dropped of the third Test, only to be brought back for the Boxing Day match in the playing XI.
Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, claiming a couple of wickets in Australia's first innings, and scoring 28 runs while batting as one of just three English batsmen who passed ten runs.
After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he came back for the second day's play and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.
However, on the final ball of his spell, he delivered a slower ball to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed for his hamstring.
The English bowler was recalled for the Boxing Day Test having missed of the third.
