Football Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game victorious run came to an end by Sunderland before the global break, but can the Premier League frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.

For week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Football and Parenting Life

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football side," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our team for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be fairly close, though. Burnley are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole away victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - will it be West Ham extending their run under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have impressed a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four games.

My son advised me to get Bees forward Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great success on the road this term, and Brighton are always decent at home. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We've not seen anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat Chelsea at the close of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's home record, the sole side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

The expert's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to predict. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 games in every tournament, but could they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
