Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the 45 charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
